Melba Hansen, 94, of De Pere, passed away on Thursday evening, December 15, 2011. The daughter of the late George and Josie (Riley) Gustman was born August 21, 1917 in Wrightstown. On September 18, 1941, she married Arnold Hansen at St. John Lutheran Church, Wrightstown. The couple farmed for many years in the Town of Oneida. Arnold preceded her in death on March 1, 1992.
Melba was very active at St. John Lutheran Church in De Pere where she was in Bible Study and belonged to the Ladies Circle. She was a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother and will be sadly missed.
Survivors include her son, Alan G. (Pat) Hansen, her daughter, Andrea C. (Tone Routheau) Hansen, and three grandchildren, Hollie (Tom) McVay, two great-grandchildren, Kaia and Kacey McVay, Heidi (Ted) Evers and Krystal Hansen. She was preceded in death by her parents, one sister, Esther (Wilbert) Zittlow, and her husband's sisters, Gertrude (Raymond) Larsen and Ethelyn (Art) Hacker.
Family and friends may call at St. John Lutheran Church, 1700 Lost Dauphin Drive, De Pere from 9:00 to 11:00 am Monday, December 19, 2011. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am Monday at the church with Pastors Brian and Andrea Cain, officiating. Burial in Lawrence Cemetery immediately following the service. The family extends a sincere thank you to the Special Care Unit at Woodside Lutheran Home for their many years of caring for Melba as well as Heartland Hospice for their care and support. In lieu of other expressions of sympathy, a memorial fund has been established.
