Melba M. Sanders, 99, De Pere, passed away Tuesday, February 6, 2024. She was born December 2, 1924, to the late John and Leona (DeVorse) Turriff. After the death of her parents, Melba was raised by her uncle and aunt, John and Amy Cavil.
On October 1, 1949, she was united in marriage by Abbot Pennings to Earl Sanders.
Melba was a longtime active member of St. Joseph/Our Lady of Lourdes Parish. She was employed at St. Norbert College for 20 years as a secretary, retiring in June of 1987. After retirement, she and Earl enjoyed boating and traveling. Her greatest enjoyment was her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.
She is survived by her children; Barb (Pat) Pieters, Paul (Cindy) Sanders, Debbie (Rick) Schaut, Sally Sanders, and Roy (Carol) Sanders. Her grandchildren; Brenda (Brian) Talbot, Jackie (John) Susong, Ben Sanders, Jesse Sanders, Jason (Bre) Schaut, Aaron (May) Schaut, Amanda (Barak) Gideon, Emily (Jorge) Barros, Tyler (Lizzie) Schaut, Bryant (Susan) Kazik, Andy Kazik, and Tony (Amie) Kazik. Melba is further survived by 30 great grandchildren, and two brothers-in-law: Lloyd "Butch" (Bonnie) Sanders, and Pat Nakatsuji.
She was preceded in death by her husband Earl, grandson Kevin Kazik, great grandson Elijah Schaut, as well as her siblings; Harold (Mary) Turriff, Donald (Betty) Turriff, Marion (Don) Wauters, and Beverly Nakatsuji.
The family would also like to extend a thank you to the staff at Good Shepard for their wonderful care durring their mothers time there.
Friends may call at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church from 9:00AM – 10:45AM Tuesday, February 13, 2024. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00AM with Fr. James Baraniak O.Praem. officiating.
