Melvin Duggan, 86, of De Pere, passed on peacefully to his eternal home on Saturday, July 23, 2011. The son of the late Jermiah and Regina Duggan was born in Green Bay on November 17, 1924. He graduated from St. Norbert High School and served his country in the U.S. Army Air Force during WW II. On September 1, 1947, he married his loving wife of sixty-two years, Kathryn. She preceded him in death on November 14, 2009. Mel's employment with AT&T allowed them to enjoy homes in several cities, including Green Bay, De Pere, Sturgeon Bay, Hudson, and Waukesha. He was a member of the Telephone Pioneers of America and the Knights of Columbus. Family, friends, and countless projects around the house brought daily adventure to Mel's life.
Melvin is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Christine (Bernard) Lienau, Sturgeon Bay, and Patricia (Paul) Hunsader, Littleton, CO, five grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, one sister, Sister Loretta Duggan, three sisters-in-law, Rose Peot, Patricia (Peter) Gomber, and Nancy (James) Bergman, as well as many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, Kathryn, parents, Jermiah and Regina (Wellens) Duggan, father and mother-in-law, Leo and Rose (Reynolds) Kosnar, brothers, Clarence Duggan, Ralph Duggan, Norbert (June) Duggan, and Patrick (Myrtle) Duggan, and brother-in-law, Maurice Peot.
Family and friends may call at St. Mary Catholic Community, Pope John XXII Circle, off of Sportsman Drive, Town of Ledgeview on Thursday July 28, 2011. Visitation will be held at the church from 9:00 to 11:00 am. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 am Thursday at the church with Father Richard Getchel, officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Calvary Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund is being established for St. Mary Catholic Community. RYAN FUNERAL HOME is in charge of arrangements.
