Michael Istwan of Ledgeview passed away with his family at his side on June 6, 2021. Born to Ed and Rose Istwan, Mike graduated from West De Pere High School and St. Norbert College, then worked many years as an admissions officer at Marquette University. He treasured his children Kim and Jamie and enjoyed being active in tennis and weightlifting. In 1989 Mike married Amy, and together they traveled, rehabbed their homes, cherished time with their West Highland Terriers, and served the churches where they were members. Most recently, Mike had returned to the church where he grew up: St. John Lutheran of De Pere. Thank you to all of the family and friends who showed their love for Mike. The family would also like to extend gratitude to Pastor Cindy Warmbier-Meyer, Pastor Bruce Cheever, and Dr. Dhimant Patel and the staff at the Vince Lombardi Cancer Clinic and Aurora BayCare Medical Center for their care and compassion. In lieu of flowers the family requests any memorials be directed to the Medical College of Wisconsin in Milwaukee, where Mike felt a true calling in his role as director of admissions before his retirement. No formal service is planned at this time.
