Obituary

Michael "Mike" Milquet, 71, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, April 29, 2025, surrounded by his family at his side. Mike was born on November 3, 1953, in Green Bay, Wisconsin to the late Norbert and Rose (Beno) Milquet. He was a 1972 graduate of East De Pere High School where he held a wrestling school record for 21 years. On June 12, 1973, he married Julie Wellens at St. Joseph Church in Green Bay. They were married for 51 years. Mike (aka Weasel) was employed at Green Bay Packaging for 43 years. He worked in the coated products division in the plant and later became a supervisor until retirement.

Mike was a man who lived fully and loved deeply. He found immense joy going to all his grandchildren's sporting events. Near or far, he was always present to cheer them on LOUD and proud despite what the referees thought of his excitement. His proudest moments came not only from their achievements but from simply being there, supporting and encouraging them. Mike was also a season ticket holder for the Green Bay Packers, which he passed down to his kids and grandkids. He is known for his love/hate relationship with the Green Bay Packers depending on the play called, the Milwaukee Brewers and Milwaukee Bucks. Mike also enjoyed playing pool for many years on the De Pere league where he shot pool for his parent bar, Norb's Broadway Bar, Old No 7, and Sidekicks.

A lifelong outdoorsman, Mike cherished his times with his family and many friends up at his cabin in Crooked Lake, WI. He enjoyed many years of hunting in the Northwoods, fishing, hanging out on the pontoon boat listening to his oldie's music and golfing with friends. Mike was a proud member of the Crooked Lake Sportsman Club where he was involved in the building of the club house. Mike also had a special talent for making booyah – a hearty tradition that brought together family, friends, and neighbors. He loved cooking up a big kettle and sharing stories around the fire, always with a smile and a full bowl for anyone who stopped by. He also enjoyed his trips to the NASCAR races and Orange Beach, AL with family and friends.

Above all, Mike valued time with the people he loved. Whether it was casting a fishing line, putting in his 2 cents on how to properly do a project, driving around up north on his golf cart, telling stories around the fire or simply enjoying a beer with his friends. He built lasting bonds and brought joy to those around him.

Mike is survived by his wife, Julie; children, Jenny (Jeff) Green and Norbert (Jessica) Milquet; grandchildren, Courtney and Carli Green and Michael (Kaitlyn Durkey) and Jarrett Milquet; siblings, Barb Wilson, Wayne Milquet, Sue (Joe) Wellens, and Mark Milquet, as well as numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; Norbert and Rose Milquet, father- and mother-in-law, Skip and Arleene Wellens; brothers John, Paul, and Donald "Fuzzy" (Sandy) Milquet.

Mike was a loving husband, devoted father, grandfather, brother, and friend. Throughout his life and many interests, the most important was his family and friends and all the memories he created.

Family and friends may call to Ryan Funeral Home, 305 N. Tenth Street, De Pere, WI 54115 beginning at 4:00 PM on Tuesday, May 6, 2025. A prayer service and sharing of stories will conclude the evening at 7:00 PM with Fr. Richard Getchel officiating.
