Obituary

Michael James Poquette, 60, De Pere, passed away on October 23, 2021 following a four year battle with sarcoidosis. The son of the late Earl and Mary (Waznick) Poquette was born in Green Bay on July 11, 1961. Growing up, Mike began working with his father as a teenager, learning skills that he would use his entire life. Whether it was electrical, plumbing, framing, he could do it all. Mike later worked on a farm and in construction in Southern Illinois and became an over-the-road truck driver, which he missed very much. Mike's greatest enjoyment in life was spending time with his wife, children, and grandchildren. It didn't matter where we were or what was being done, he was happy. He cherished his time chopping wood and tinkering in the garage with Edie and sharing his apples with Calvin. Survived by his wife, Sherry Manders, his children David (Ann) Poquette and Mary (James) Maitland, and his grandchildren Edie and Calvin Maitland. Mike is also survived by his siblings John, Earl (Pat), David (Betsy), Steve (Lori), Sam (Rae), Dick (Colleen), Judy, Trixie (Kevin), Jeannie, Cheryl (Steve), JoAnne, Susan (Tony), Kathy (Mike), and Mary (Dick), as well as his brother-in-law Dan. He is further survived by numerous nieces and nephews, the Manders family, and of course, his beloved little hound Dora, who never left his side. Mike was preceded in death by his parents, his sister Peg, his brother Tommy, and nephews Daniel, David, Evan, Aaron and Rick. Mike was devasted by the loss of his close friend, Dusty Hoffman, two years ago and we are sure Mike is sitting with Dusty, drinking an ice cold Miller Lite, and listening to John Prine. Family and friends may visit at Ryan Funeral Home, 305 N. Tenth Street, De Pere, beginning at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday, October 27, 2021. A short prayer service will conclude the visitation at 7:00 p.m. Sherry would like to extend her thanks to Mike's medical team, especially Dr. Pahl, who so genuinely listened to and cared for Mike. She would like to extend a special thank you to Mike's brother, John, who has helped so much these past few months with taking Mike to the hospital and dialysis and spending all hours of the night in the garage keeping Mike company when he couldn't sleep because of pain. She would also like to extend a special thank you to her brother, Larry, who has helped so much the past few years while Mike's health continued to decline.
