Milton G. Edwards, 91, a longtime resident of Newberry, Michigan passed away Tuesday night, November 6, 2012 at the Lutheran Woodside Nursing Home in Green Bay, Wisconsin. He was born March 3, 1921 in Newberry, Michigan to Claude and Olga (Johnson) Edwards. He was raised in the Swedish Settlement in Gulliver, Michigan.
Milton served in the Coast Guard during WWII. Prior to serving in the Coast Guard he worked at the Inland Lime and Stone Company in Schoolcraft County. After being discharged from the Coast Guard, Milton again took up residence in Newberry. He married Catherine (Seibert) Edwards on June 15, 1948. Milton was employed by the Newberry State Hospital until his retirement in 1978 to be close to family. They moved to Green Bay in 1997.
Milton had many interests and pastimes. He enjoyed carpentry, hunting, gardening and all outside activities. Milton for many years played on the local cribbage team at the American Legion. He was on the Board of Directors for the Newberry Credit Union and he was also a longtime member of the First Presbyterian Church and the First United Methodist Church in Newberry.
He is survived by his daughters; Nancy Forsyth of California and Jeri Lesatz of DePere, WI and his four grandchildren; Bobbi (Patrick) Verbeten, Randy (Carri) Lesatz, Daniel (Lisa) Forsyth, and Jaclyn (Eric) Barlament. Milton's 10 great grandchildren further survive him.
He was preceded in death by his wife, his parents, his three sisters; Mabel Lou Edwards, Dorothy Kerr and Marion Carefelle and his son-in-law Robert Lesatz.
