Muriel Lou Frank (Van Elsen) passed away peacefully early Friday morning November 11, 2022 surrounded by family. Muriel was born November 12, 1932 in Little Chute, Wisconsin. She was the daughter of John Van Den Elsen and Sylvia Van Den Elsen (Meulemans). Muriel was married to her husband and best friend Robert Frank for 58 years until his passing in 2017.

She is survived by her ten children; Peter (Amy Nickel), Julia (John Lee), Mary, Timothy (Lana Olsen), Donna (James Schmitz), Robert Jr (Debbie Dawes), Barbara (Darren Johnson), Jeffery, Molly; and Michelle Smalls. Muriel was grandmother to 30 beautiful and adoring grandchildren and 26 great grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her husband, parents and four siblings; Kenneth Van Elsen, Gloria Hash (Van Elsen), Raymond Van Elsen and Erna Spice (Van Elsen). Muriel will forever be remembered for her gentle spirit, kind smile and sacrificial love. She poured all of herself into and gave unceasingly to her husband, ten children, grandchildren and great -grandchildren.

She loved to be in the midst of the noise and commotion of her large family. Muriel exemplified the very definition of self-sacrifice and contentment. She consistently offered a kind word, warm smile and helping hand to all who crossed her path. Harsh, critical or judgmental words were not part of her vocabulary. Few people will leave a legacy of love, self-sacrifice, gentleness, kindness and compassion like Muriel.

The funeral mass will be held at St. Francis Xavier Parish, 220 S. Michigan St. De Pere on Saturday, November 19, 2022 at 11:00 a.m.. Visitation will take place from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the mass. Ryan Funeral Home, De Pere is assisting the family. Many, many thanks to the wonderful care-takers at Angels Touch assisted living facility in De Pere, WI., who truly treated Muriel as their own grandmother. Thank you for loving her so well.
