Nell Ann R. Grant of De Pere died Saturday, September 14, 2013 at St. Vincent Hospital where she was born 80 years earlier on June 9, 1933 to the late Joseph and Gertrude (Bertrand) Reinhard. She graduated from Nicolet High School with the Class of 1951. Nell Ann married Gerald Laurent in 1953 and had two sons with him, Jeffery and Scott. In 1969, she married Alexander R. Grant. Nell Ann earned a degree in accounting from UWGB in 1976 and became a certified public accountant. She worked with her husband Alexander and his partners in their law firm and then for Bellin Hospital as an accountant. Nell Ann retired in 1997 to care for Alexander until his death in 2001. She continued to prepare tax returns for her clients/friends until age 79. Nell Ann loved to go to the casino, play solitaire, do crossword puzzles, word jumbles, and Sudoku puzzles, meticulously scratch off lottery tickets, read suspense/mystery books, watch her favorite TV shows, email her family twice weekly and call her sons every Sunday.
Nell Ann is survived by her children, Jeff Laurent of Macomb, IL and Scooter (Kim) Laurent of Eden, NC; grandchildren, Tara (Chris) Duwe of Plymouth, WI, Christina Laurent of Tucson, AZ, and Bryce Childress of Greensboro, NC. She had a special relationship with her sister, Trudie (Albert) Lafrance of Violet, LA and children, Kathy Lafrance, Anita (Darren) Wolverton, and Angelle (Vince Mokry) Lafrance and their families. Brother-in-law Thomas Mueller of Fountain Valley, CA and his family also survive. Many beloved cousins, especially the Kane and the Josephs families, and special friends survive Nell Ann. Her parents, husband, sister Mary Kay Mueller, and granddaughter Jennifer (Laurent) McQueen preceded Nell Ann in death.
Nell Ann lived a full and independent life on her terms. Those who knew and loved her are saddened by her loss, miss her dearly, and will carry her memory in their hearts.
