Norbert J. Gevers, 90, De Pere, died Thursday, February 11, 2010 at a local hospital. Norbert was born September 8, 1919 in De Pere, WI a son of the late John and Delia (Gehrke) Gevers. He graduated from Nicolet High School. He then graduated from St. Norbert College and from the University of Chicago. On September 11, 1943 he married the former Diana Hendricks at St. Boniface Church, De Pere. Norbert served his country in the Army Air Force as a meteorologist in the Pacific Theatre during WWII. Norbert spent over 30 years as an Environmental Engineer for Thilmany Co. Norbert enjoyed a lot of hobbies including woodworking, jewelry making, and wine making. He also enjoyed wintering in Florida and spending time at the cottage fishing and sailing. Norbert is survived by his wife of 66 years Diana Gevers; children: Kathleen Gevers, De Pere, Elizabeth (Peter) Schroeder, Townsend, and Jeanne Polarek, Howard; daughter-in-law Karen Gevers; grandchildren: Brandy Gevers, Seattle, WA, Jordan Gevers, Seattle, WA, Adam Polarek, Howard, and Caitlin Polarek, Howard; and nieces and nephews. Norbert was preceded in death by a son Joseph; and his stepbrothers and sisters-in-law: Johanna, Leo, Carl, John Jr, Ella, Matt, Jake, Clarence, Sylvester, Cornelius, Hubert, and Lawrence. Visitation for Norbert will be Saturday, February 13, 2010 at Our Lady of Lourdes Parish Family, Corner of Lourdes Ave and Suburban Dr, De Pere from 9:30 AM until time of Mass. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 AM at church with Fr. Tim Shillcox, O. Praem and Fr. George Lenzner officiating. Entombment will be in Allouez Mausoleum.
