Patricia Marie (Brown) Smole passed away suddenly on Friday, May 20 in Madison, WI. Pat was born September 17, 1939 to William and Beatrice Brown in Grand Rapids, Minnesota. She grew up on a farm as one of five children. She went to Grand Rapids High School and graduated from the University of Minnesota with a degree in Home Economics.
Pat met Anthony Smole at the wedding of a mutual friend and were married in Grand Rapids, Minnesota on April 24, 1965. The two lived in Fond du Lac for several years before settling in the Green Bay area. Pat and Tony had 2 daughters, Cathy and Susan.
Pat was a home economics teacher before moving into a long and successful real estate career. She worked at Jean Woods Realty, Province Realty and ended her career at Olejniczak Realty. Throughout her career Pat worked with countless home buyers, many of whom became her close friends.
Pat treasured the time spent with her family and friends. She especially enjoyed the trips she took to Door County each summer with her children and grandchildren. She loved working in her yard, staying active at the YMCA, and playing cards in one of her several bridge groups. Pat's faith was so important to her and she was a very active member of Resurrection Catholic Parish for over 40 years.
Patricia was preceded in death by her beloved husband Tony, her parents William and Beatrice, her sister Eileen, two brothers Bill and Tom, her sister-in-law Eleanor, and her parents in law Anton and Bertha Smole.
Survivors include her 2 daughters and their families, Cathy and Jeff Risseeuw (Sun Prairie, WI) and their children Ben and Megan; and Susan and Robb DeRuyter (DePere, WI) and their children Charlie, Cece, Leo and Josie. She is also survived by her sister Mary (Jerry Hunter) Vukonich, brother-in-law Rudy, nieces and nephews Annette, Michelle, Dayna, Chery, Bill, Tom and Eileen.
Visitation will be held at Resurrection Catholic Parish in Allouez on Tuesday, May 24 from 5:00 - 7:00 pm with a prayer service at 7:00 pm. Visitation will also be from 10:00 - 12:00 on Wednesday, May 25 preceding the Mass of Christian Burial at 12:00. A luncheon will follow the funeral service.
