June 21, 1943 – October 11, 2023
Paul S. "Wood Eye" Cornelius, 80, Oneida, passed away peacefully Wednesday, October 11, 2023. He was born June 21, 1943, to the late Julius and Alice (King) Cornelius.
Paul graduated from Freedom High School class of 1961, where he excelled in athletics. He then attended Haskell University.
Paul was an avid outdoorsman, who enjoyed fishing, and hunting. He coached several athletic teams. Paul recently celebrated 42 years of sobriety.
An experienced CDL driver, Paul drove for various companies throughout his career.
Paul enjoyed listening to the Oneida Hymn Singers, and he along with his family sang with the Cornelius Family.
He is survived by his children, Paul H. Cornelius, Evelyn (Michael) Cornelius – Palechek, Christoper (Julie) Cornelius, Shelly (Ronnie) Cornelius – Roman, and Paulette (Partner Brad) Cornelius. Grandchildren; Dakotah, Adrian (Amber), Mike (Jenny), Evan, Cameron, Raena (J.J.), Myah, and Abbie. Great grandchildren; Jamesin, Kiki, and Paityn. Siblings; Thelma (Wendell) McLester, Merlin (Pat) Cornelius, Eugene Cornelius, Emily (Steve) Johnson, Edna (Scott) Cornelius – Grosskopf, as well as his sister-in-law June Cornelius, brother-in-law Fred Laitinen, special nephew Eugene "Blackie" Cornelius, and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Paul was preceded in death by his parents, his siblings; Alice Lorraine (Ray) Denny, Isaac Cornelius, Rose Laitinen, Shirley LaFleur, Daughter-in-law Lynette Cornelius, and sister-in-law Barb Cornelius.
Friends may call at Ryan Funeral Home 305 N. Tenth Street, De Pere from 1:00PM Sunday, October 15, 2023. The Oneida Hymn Singers will sing at 2:30PM followed by a service at 3:00PM with Deacon Deborah Heckel officiating.
