Paul H. Baeten , 93, of De Pere, was called to eternal life on Wednesday, June 17, 2026.
Paul, the son of the late Peter G. and Mary (Hoffman) Baeten was born on October 5, 1932.
He graduated from Nicolet High School in 1950; he then received his training as a Highway Engineering Technician from UW Platteville.
Paul was united in Marriage to Patricia Alger on August 1, 1959, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, De Pere.
He served two terms on the De Pere City Council representing the 4th ward. After 40 years of service, Paul retired from the State of Wisconsin as a State Highway Commissioner.
Paul enjoyed hunting, fishing, bowling, and was a lifelong member of St. Boniface/St. Joseph/ Our Lady of Lourdes.
He is survived by his children, Jane Yells, and Joe (Annette) Baeten. Grandchildren; Chase & Reid Yells, Jennifer (fiancé Wes) Retel, and Brandon Sinkler. Great grandchildren; Michael, Madison, Mason, Max, Matthew, Molly, Ava, and Mila. Paul is further survived by his brother Allen “Otch” Baeten, sisters-in-law Mary Eileen Baeten, Ginny Leidel, as well as numerous loved nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Patricia, his siblings; Bede (Ev) Baeten, Mark Baeten, Cy (Betty) Baeten, Jean (Patrick) Shaughnessy, Tom (Carol) Baeten, his sisters-in-law Janice Baeten, Ruth Stockman, brother-in-law David Leidel, his nephew Mark Baeten, and niece Terry Leidel.
Friends may call at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church 1305 Lourdes Ave., De Pere on Wednesday, June 24, 2026, from 9:00AM – 10:45AM. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00AM with Fr. James Baraniak O.Praem. officiating. Burial will take place at Mt Calvary Cemetery, De Pere.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial will be established.
Paul had joy and passion for life and loved encouraging and helping people in any way he could. For those that knew Paul, words like spiritual, intelligent, kind and humble only start to describe the kind of man Paul was.
