Obituary

Penelope "Penny" Enders died Oct. 14 in De Pere after a short battle with cancer and heart disease. She was 78. Born Penelope Ann Ball in Jacksonville, Ill., Penny participated in the Rainbow Girls and was the valedictorian of her graduating class at Rochester High School in Rochester, Ind. She was also editor of her high school yearbook, and, after her yearbook was stolen shortly after graduation, was excited to leverage today's technology to access a copy in just the last few years. She later studied chemistry at DePauw Univ. and Washington Univ. in St Louis. In 1960, she married William Joseph Enders with whom she had three children. After living in Cudahy and Prentice, Wisc., she ultimately settled in Green Bay in 1974 where she was an Elder at the First United Presbyterian Church of De Pere and a 20-year member of the choir. Though she had many reasons not to believe -- the death of her eldest son Scott Joseph Enders in 1971 profoundly changed her life -- Penny always did. Altruistic, vivacious and eternally optimistic, she was known for her adventurous spirit, buoyant sense of humour and love for the occasional cookie and brandy old fashioned. Her inner strength and integrity inspired all who knew her. A Sales Director with Mary Kay Cosmetics, Penny fully lived its ideals of personal empowerment, sisterhood and social responsibility. In her over 40-year Mary Kay career , she earned many sales goals accolades and the privilege of driving the company's signature award, a pink Cadillac. Her most cherished award was being nominated as a Miss Go-Give at the national level, which honors the spirit of giving to others. She is survived by her daughter Jamie Ann Moar and son Eric John Enders and grandson Brady Scott Moar. A private memorial service was held to celebrate her life.
