Peter Edward Helander, 65, passed away at home on March 16, 2026, surrounded by his loving family. Peter was born in Green Bay on April 25, 1960, to Arthur and Peggy (Burckle) Helander. Peter was a devoted father, proud grandfather, and loving partner who found his greatest joy in time spent with those he loved.
Peter graduated from the University of Wisconsin–Madison with a Bachelor of Science-Agriculture degree and earned his master’s degree in Agricultural Economics from the University of Arizona, where he was published for his work, Commercial Bank Loans and Non-metropolitan Economic Activity: A Question of Causality with David Barley. He went on to build a successful career in the technology industry, known for his leadership, generosity, and commitment to helping others succeed. He especially enjoyed spending time at the cottage working on projects with his wife, Pam, and their beloved dog, Tally.
Peter is survived by his wife, Pamela Helander; his son Nicholas (Tracy) Helander; his daughter Olivia (Brett) Marcis, stepchildren and grandchildren; his sisters Victoria Helander and Valerie Paque-Helander, his nieces and nephews and their children and mother-in-law, Judy Malkowski.
He was preceded in death by his parents Arthur and Peggy (Burckle) Helander and brother-in-law Ted Heiser.
Family and friends are welcome to celebrate Peter’s life and memory at The Marq Supper Club and Banquet, 3177 French Road, De Pere, WI 54115, from 1:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. on Sunday, March 22, 2026. In lieu of flowers, the family has asked that you consider contributing to the family foundation to be formed in Peter’s name in support of STEM education.
The Helander Family would like to thank the Froedtert Cancer team, the Thedacare team, Unity Hospice and a special thank you to Madeline Baretta, Speech Therapist at Aurora and Terry Malkowski (sister of Pam) for their remarkable care for Peter.
Peter leaves behind an extraordinary legacy and his life’s work will continue to help others succeed, just as he always hoped. He will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by his family, friends, and all who knew him.
