Randel J. Van Lanen, 85, of Ashwaubenon passed away on Saturday November 24, 2012 at a local hospital. The son of the late Jack and Minnie (Berken) Van Lanen was born October 23, 1927 in De Pere. He proudly served his country in the U. S. Army, and served from 1943 to 1947. On June 25, 1955, he married the former Marilyn Ejnik at St. Isadore and Edward Catholic Church in Flintville.
Randel was a member of the Retired Ashwaubenon Fire Company 213 and member of the Green Bay Moose Lodge. He worked for Green Bay Packaging for 23 years before working at Village of Ashwaubenon for 25 years. Randel was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed spending time up north at his cottage. He loved playing cards and dice at 213 with family and friends. His delightful sense of humor brought smiles to all who knew and loved him.
His family includes his wife of 57 years, Marilyn, four sons, Gary (Stacey), Michael (Beverly), Brian (Kelley), Paul (Michelle) Van Lanen, ten grandchildren, Ciara, Janelle, Kasey, Brianna, Rebecca, Melissa, Taylor, Morgan, Joel and Shanna. He is also survived by his sister, Monica Clark, and a sister-in-law, Audrey Van Lanen, nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition, he is also survived by Marilyn's family, Bill and Moria Ejnik, Diane Ejnik, Richard and Florence Mulloy. He was preceded in death by his brothers, Al (Fern), Harvey (Verona), Raymond (Alvina), Henry (Rosemarie) and Earl, and his sisters, Johanna (Richard) Hermans, Marcella (Norbert) Fonder, Ruth (David) Cleven.
Family and friends may call at RYAN FUNERAL HOME, 305 North Tenth Street from 4:00 to 7:00 pm on Wednesday November 28, 2012. Parish prayer service at 7:00 pm. Visitation will continue after 10:00 am Thursday at Nativity of Our Lord Catholic Church, 2270 South Oneida Street, Ashwaubenon, until time of service. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 am Thursday at the church with Father John H. Harper, officiating. Entombment will follow at Shrine of the Good Shepherd Mausoleum.
