Obituary

Raymond "Ranger" Lonefeather Christjohn, 47, Oneida, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, August 18, 2024. The son of Kay Christjohn and the late Clifford Danforth, he was born on April 28, 1977, in Green Bay.

At the age of 12, Ranger began to take up singing and drumming with his Site 2 buddies; a passion he had for all his life. Even when he was home, Ranger was drumming every day. Every time you saw him, he was drumming. Singing and drumming took Ranger across America, where he was able to meet so many brothers and sisters throughout Native Country. He met many other Warriors along his journey throughout life and built many life-long friendships.

Life did not always come easy to Ranger, however, with the support of Oneida Behavioral Health, and countless supporters and sponsors, Ranger was able to stay on his path of recovery. Ranger always liked to make people laugh. He loved spending time with his family, and people were drawn to his charming and generous personality. He never hesitated to help those in need. We know that his spirit will always be guiding us along the way of our own journeys. Ranger will never be forgotten.

Ranger is survived by his mother, Kay Christjohn; siblings, Renita (Antonio) Hernandez, Collette (Duane) Skenandore, Carla (Brian) Vigue, Roland Christjohn; children, Raeann Peters, Lowahtsyate "Jawday" Christjohn, Elianna Christjohn, and AnnMarie Christjohn; nieces and nephews, Carissa (Matt), Herlinda (Aldo), Sylvia (Rodrigo), Antonio, Elias, Isaac, Gabriel, Mariah (Brennan), Lance (Katrina), Chantel, Lorena, Vanessa, Otto, Hunter, Raidan and other relatives also survive. His Godchildren were Carissa K. Metoxen and Silas Christjohn.

He was preceded in death by his father, Clifford Danforth, paternal and maternal grandparents, Pete and Sabie Danforth and Amos and Daisy Christjohn, great-grandparents, Joe and Elsie Green, Lucy Christjohn, niece Catalena Cooper; aunts and uncles, Neoma Orsburn, Theodore Christjohn, Rosalie (Marvin) Lucas, Gwendolyn Christjohn, Paula Ninham, Pamela Biddell, and Joey Christjohn.

The Oneida Hymn Singers will begin their song service at 6:00 PM. Visitation will continue Monday, August 27, 2024, at Ryan Funeral Home, from 9:00 AM until the time of service at 11:00 AM. The Oneida Hymn Singers will begin their song service at 10:30 AM.

The Christjohn family would like to extend a special thank you to the Oneida Police Department, to all of Ranger's brothers who drummed and sang with him throughout his life, and particularly these past few days, also to the firekeepers and everyone else who has donated during this difficult time. There are too many people to mention, but we thank all of them for their love and support.
