Raymond William “Bill” Gevers, 78 of De Pere, passed away on April 29, 2026, in the comfort of his own home after a long-fought battle with MDS. He was born on November 24, 1947, to the late Raphael and Loretta Gevers in Green Bay. He graduated from West De Pere High School in 1965. He married Sue Hurley on November 16, 1968.
Bill was a barber in De Pere for many years. He enjoyed golfing, playing cards, and spending time with family. Bill loved perch fishing and bird hunting as well. He was an avid Wisconsin sports fan.
Bill is survived by his wife Sue, their children Heather (Russ) Willems, Greg (Sheri) Gevers, Matt (Kim Simmons) Gevers, grandchildren Garrett (Erin), Austin (Angela), Michaela (Trent), Mason (Zoe), Merrick, Colin and Cody, and a great-grandchild Brannigan. He is further survived by his sister Mary Achten, and in-laws Shirley Gevers, Sam Hurley, Eileen Hurley, Dan (Sue) Hurley, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Sue’s parents, his brother James, sister Virginia Jansen, brothers-in-law Bernie Achten, Stu Jansen, Thomas Hurley Jr, and nephews Jimmy Acthen and Andy Gevers.
Family and friends may call for visitation on Tuesday, May 5 from 9:00 AM to 10:45 AM at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, Corner of Lourdes Avenue & Suburban Drive, 1305 Lourdes Ave, De Pere, WI 54115. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 11:00 AM with Fr. James Baraniak O.Praem. officiating. Ryan Funeral Home is assisting the family.
The family of Bill requests no plants or flowers. Instead, a memorial fund will be established.
A special thank you to St. Mary Oncology Staff for their care of Bill over the last several years, as well as Unity Hospice for their compassion and care.
Bill, Dad, Grandpa, we love you and you will be greatly missed!
