Obituary

Redmon George Danforth Sr., 64, of Oneida passed away unexpectedly on Friday, April 24th, 2015. He was born June 16th, 1950 in Green Bay, WI to the late Albert & Margaret Danforth. He attended West Division High School in Milwaukee, WI. Red married Maria E. Martinez, August 18th, 1984 and they enjoyed almost 31 loving years of marriage together. Red worked for GE Medical in Milwaukee, WI for nearly 25 years, and 20+ years for the Oneida Nation at Oneida Utilities and Oneida Maintenance at Oneida Community Health Center. Red enjoyed fishing, hunting, cooking, watching wrestling, and had a love for classic cars. He loved listening to oldies music. He loved watching football and was an avid Packer fan. In his younger years, he enjoyed dancing at pow wows and boxing; he was a golden gloves champ back in the 60's. Red had a great love for his Rottweiler, Rocky, and enjoyed his dogs through the years, including Wicked. Red was known for his teasing and humor, he loved to socialize and flirt with all his women, and always had that ability to make a person smile. Most of all, Red loved spending time with his family especially his grandkids. Redmon is survived by his wife, Maria; his three children: Redmon Jr. (Katsi), Dewain (Apache), and Sheena (Edward); 13 grandchildren: Courtney, Yelih, Laiyah, Redmon III, Shako, Nova Rae, Autumn, Tia, Yokalasha, Mueca, Audrina, Daniel, and D'Angelo; great-grandchildren: Alana Rose and Steven; siblings: Mary (Frank) of Oak Creek, Simon (the late LaVonne) of Milwaukee, Daniel (Annette) of Milwaukee, Janice (Ronald) of West Milwaukee, Alfred (Gail) of Oneida, Bruce (Mercie) of Oneida, Diana (Candido) of De Pere, Robert (Debra) of De Pere, Judith (David) of Oneida; father-in-law Rafael Martinez (Ernestina) of California; sister-in-law Rebecca Martinez of Milwaukee; brother-in-law Adolfo Martinez (Francisca) of Chicago; numerous nieces, nephews, god-children and other relatives and friends including his special friends from GE. He proceeded in death by his parents Albert and Margaret Danforth; mother-in-law Lydia Martinez; granddaughter Mariah Lynn Danforth-Moore. Friends and family may call at Ryan Funeral Home in De Pere (305 North Tenth Street, De Pere) on Wednesday, April 29th, 2015 from 4pm-7pm. Oneida Hymn Singers will begin at 6:30pm.
