Obituary

Reka I. Smith, 95, Seymour died Thursday, October 15, 2009 at Good Shepherd Nursing Home, Seymour. She was born July 26, 1914 in Oneida, WI, a daughter of the late Hyson and Jennie (Skenandore) John. Reka retired from American Motors. She was a member of Holy Apostles Episcopal Church, Oneida since 1933, a member of the Altar Guild, and Senior Guild. She was also a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of Robert W. Cornelius VFW Post 7784 and the UAW Union #75. Reka volunteered her time at Anna John Nursing Home for over 20 years. Reka is survived by her daughter Beverly (Ronald) Yahnke, Wautoma; her two grandchildren Mark (Barbara) Yahnke and Steven (Lisa) Yahnke; her five great grandchildren Emily, Nathan, Shannon, Brandon, and Kaitlyn. She is further survived by her sister Helema Watters, her special friend Patsy Elm; and nieces and nephews. Reka was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters Hilda John and Rena Denny; five brothers Isadore, Jasper, Irving, Hyson Christopher, and Emerson. Visitation for Reka will be held on Tuesday, October 20, 2009 at RYAN FUNERAL HOME, 305 N. Tenth St, De Pere from 4:30 to 8:00 PM, Oneida Hymn Singers at 6:30 PM and a Prayer service at 7:00 PM. Visitation will continue Wednesday, at the funeral home from 9:00 AM until procession leaves for Church. A Celebration of Mass of Christian Burial will be Wednesday, October 21, 2009 at Holy Apostles Episcopal Church, Freedom Rd, Oneida at 10:30 AM, with Rev. Kristina Henning officiating and Deacons Edmund Powless and Debbie Heckel concelebrating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
