IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Rev. Frank A
Tobisch
October 15, 1929 – April 28, 2023
Rev. Frank A. Tobisch, 93, a loving husband, father, and grandfather, as well as a devoted servant of the Lord, passed away on April 28, 2023, in Green Bay, Wisconsin. Born on October 15, 1929, to the late Frank H. and Lucille (Ahl) Tobisch in Stillwater, Minnesota, Frank lived a life filled with kindness and generosity, touching the lives of many with his unwavering faith and compassionate spirit.
Frank is survived by his beloved wife of more than 60 years, Carole J. (Hanneman) Tobisch; their two sons, Andrew and Mark Tobisch; daughter-in-law Cathy Tobisch; and cherished grandchildren Stephen and Alyssa Tobisch. He will be remembered as a kind, generous, and intelligent man who, above all, loved his family and his faith.
In the pursuit of his calling to serve God and his community, Frank received a bachelor's degree from Capital University in Columbus, Ohio, followed by a B.D. degree from Evangelical Lutheran Theological Seminary, also in Columbus. He was ordained in his home church, St. Paul Lutheran, in Stillwater, Minnesota, marking the beginning of a long and fulfilling ministry that spanned over three decades.
Frank's ministry began in Richford and Coloma, Wisconsin, where he served two congregations, St. Peter Lutheran and Immanuel Lutheran, from 1957 to 1962. He then became Pastor of Zion Lutheran Church in Tigerton, Wisconsin, and Immanuel Lutheran in Morris, Wisconsin, from 1962 to 1967. His unwavering dedication to his faith and community led him to serve as Pastor of Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Denmark, Wisconsin, from 1967 to 1988.
In addition to his full-time pastoral work, Frank provided part-time pastoral services during an interim at Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Seymour, Wisconsin, and spent five years as chaplain at Holy Family Memorial Hospital in Manitowoc, Wisconsin. Frank's ministry was a testament to his deep faith, compassion, and commitment to helping others, and his impact on the lives of those he served will not be forgotten.
His commitment to the broader community was evident through his service on the Board of Directors of Woodside Lutheran Home in the 1970s. During his tenure on the Board, Woodside Oaks Independent Senior Living apartments broke ground and were built, providing a safe and comfortable living environment for many seniors.
Outside of his work in the church, Frank had a passion for gardening, model trains, reading, solving puzzles, and spending time with his family. He found solace and joy in tending to his garden, cultivating beautiful flowers and bountiful produce that he generously shared with friends and neighbors. His love for learning and his curious nature were evident in the way he engaged with the world around him.
Frank's legacy will live on through the countless lives he touched during his time on earth. As we mourn the loss of this remarkable man, let us also celebrate his life and the lasting impact he had on those fortunate enough to have known him. His memory will forever be cherished by his family, friends, and the many communities he served with love and devotion.
Family and friends may visit at St. John Lutheran Church, 1700 Lost Dauphin Road, De Pere, beginning at 9:00 a.m. on Friday, May 5, 2023. A funeral service will begin at 11 a.m. with Rev. Cindy Warmbier-Meyer officiating. Entombment will take place at Allouez Catholic Mausoleum.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. John Lutheran Church in De Pere or the CP Center Adult Day Services in memory of Rev. Frank A. Tobisch. His family would like to express their deepest gratitude for the outpouring of love and support during this difficult time.
