Richard Russell Collins, 85, better known as 'Dick' died June 6, 2017 in Appleton WI. Dad was born on January 16, 1932 in Union City Indiana, the son of the late George E Collins and Vivian Lucile (Merritt) Foster. He served in the US Air Force from April 1950 to February of 1954 in the Korean War. Our parents were married in 1955. Dad worked at Broadway Automotive, Lake to Lake Dairy, and at Town & Country Electric. Many nights and weekends he ran his own company, Collins Electric. During retirement, he continued to be active as an electrician with his son, Pete.
Dad, like his father, amazed family and friends with his ability to problem solve and fix just about anything. He had a life-long love affair with our Mom, who he called 'Doll Baby', who he always kissed when leaving and upon returning home. Dick enjoyed wood working, adventures in camping, collecting rocks, traveling and seeking country music shows, and our very large family.
Dick is survived by his children: Susan (Donald) Duca, Dianne (Craig) Hansen, Ronald 'Pete' (Janet) Collins; his sister Nancy Elliott; his brothers George (Marcy) Collins II; Sherman (Tracy) Foster, Bart Foster, and mother Helen Collins. Dick is further survived by numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his wife Dorothy, his son James, parents; George Collins and Vivian(Merritt)Foster, Marie Aurelia Davis Collins, his brother Cameron, and beloved nieces and nephews.
Dick lived a long and full life during which many wonderful memories were created. He will be greatly missed by everyone that knew him.
