Obituary

Richard "Dick" Calaway, 80, Greenleaf, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday morning, December 21, 2022. He was born January 30, 1942, to the late John Sr. and (Elizabeth Hurckman) Calaway.

Dick graduated from West De Pere High School and then attended Kaukauna Normal School for two years. He started his teaching career in a one room schoolhouse in Shiocton. After receiving his master's degree in School Administration from UW Oshkosh, his teaching career brought him to Wrightstown where he taught before becoming the principal for 13 years until his retirement.

Dick had varied interests and was involved in many activities, such as Hobart Chairman and Supervisor, Brown County Board of Health, selling antiques, going to auctions at Mathies Trading Post & Auction House in Wayside, running Kelly's Bar, and his favorite was as Principal at Wrightstown.

He is survived by his sister Bette Manders, brother Dave (Mary) Calaway, and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Dick was preceded in death by his parents, and his siblings; John Calaway Sr., Joan (Richard) Hogan, Sally (Jack) Kellerman, and brother-in-law Norbert Manders.

Friends may call from 12:00PM – 3:00PM on Tuesday, December 27, 2022, at Ryan Funeral Home 305 N. Tenth Street, De Pere. A memorial service celebrating Dick's life will take place at 3:00PM with Fr. James Baraniak O.Praem. officiating.
