Obituary

Richard (Dick) Hansen, 85, De Pere, was called to our Lord on January 23, 2012. He was born on January 18, 1927 to the late Peter and Minnie (Laudenklos) Hansen. On May 30, 1953 he married Carma Jean (Woulf) in Coleman, WI and they celebrated over 58 and years of marriage. Dick graduated from the University of Wisconsin Madison with a degree in civil engineering. He worked for the former Northern Paper Mills for 39 years before retiring. Dick later came out of retirement to help to build the boat landing in East De Pere, and then later worked as construction manager serving the Boldt Company for the building of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in 1999. He was so proud to be a part of such a wonderful project. Dick played trombone in the Green Bay Packer Lumberjack Band, and played in various dance bands. He enjoyed wood-working, golfing, trout fishing, gardening, playing cards, especially cribbage with his family. He was an avid sports fan, following the Packers, Badgers, and Brewers. A big part of Dick's life was volunteering for St. Vincent De Paul. Dick's greatest love was spending time with his family. Dick is survived by his loving wife, Carma Jean; daughter Renae, Green Bay; son Craig (Dianne) Hansen, Fond du Lac; daughter-in-law Celeste (Mike) DeShasier, Appleton; six grandchildren, Ashley (Scott) Wendels, Eric Hansen, Patrick (Debbie) Hansen, Bradley Hansen, Elise Hansen, and Sydney Hansen; three great grandchildren, Emma and Abby Hansen, and Noah Wendels; a twin sister, Margaret "Peggy" (Bob) Joppe, Green Bay; two Sisters-in-law Margie (Keith) Campbell, and Jackie Woulf; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; his son, Scott Hansen; three brothers; three sisters; and his loving in-laws, Art and Leona Woulf. Dick was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. He and Carma were Best Friends and did everything together. They loved to dance and would from the first to the last song. When Dick was in the hospital taking his last breaths, Carma sang to him the son "May I Have This Dance For The Rest of My Life". He had a deep faith which helped him accept the death of their son, Scott. He had many challenges in his life, and accepted them and never complained, always keeping a positive attitude. Friends and family may gather at RYAN FUNERAL HOME, 305 N. Tenth Street De Pere, on Wednesday, January 25, 2012 from 4:00p.m. until 8:00p.m..
