Richard "Hoofty" Heuvelmans, 93, of De Pere died Monday March 16, 2015 in a local hospital. The son of the late Peter and Martha (Fuller) Heuvelmans was born September 16, 1921 in Green Bay. He married Virginia Vander Leest in Green Bay on March 21, 1942.
Hoofty had worked for over 40 years at Nicolet Paper Company prior to retirement. He enjoyed the outdoors, especially hunting and fishing. He spent his summers in Little Sturgeon fishing with his brother-in-law, Leonard Harrison. Richard loved playing cards with his buddies around town.
Survivors include his wife, Virginia, one son, Jim, one daughter, Sharon (Clause) Ross and six grandchildren, Todd (Sue) Heuvelmans, Troy (Becky) Heuvelmans, Robert (Staci) Gleason, Ricky Gleason, Pam Gleason (special friend Don Scott), Tom O'Conner, 13 great-grandchildren, one sister, Shirley Geurts, and three sisters-in-law, Delores Vander Leest, Betty and Alice Heuvelmans.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two grandchildren, Patricia and Edward Gleason, two brothers, Vernon and Roland as well as his son-in-law, Tom Gleason, daughter-in-law, Lee (Cady) Heuvelmans, and parents-in-law, Henry and Ella Vander Leest and in-laws, Leonard and Lois Harrison, Romie Geurts, Larry Vander Leest.
