Obituary

Richard �Dick� Vander Missen, 69, of De Pere, passed away Wednesday morning, February 16, 2011 with his family at his side, after a courageous ten month battle with cancer. The son of the late Clarence and Mary (Verheyen) Vander Missen was born July 22, 1941 in Green Bay. Dick served his country in the U.S. Army for six years. He married the former Rosemary Vanevenhoven on July 2, 1963 at Holy Cross Church in Kaukauna. Dick had worked at Broadway Chevrolet for 44 years, prior to retirement in 2004 as Parts Manager. He enjoyed the outdoors and loved fishing, hunting and spending time at the cottage. He enjoyed bowling, golfing and traveling. Dick was a member of the De Pere Knights of Columbus Council and Green Bay Moose Lodge. He was active in Scouting for many years. He and Rosie were longtime members of St. Mary Catholic Parish in De Pere for many years. Dick was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather and will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved him. Survivors include his wife of 47 years Rosemary, their children, Shelly and Bryan Becker, Mike and Michelle Vander Missen, James and Molly Vander Missen and Lisa and Eric Trousil, twelve grandchildren, Jessica and Jason Becker, Joshua, Zachary, Tianna, Marissa, and Samuel Vander Missen, Drew and Morgan Vander Missen, and Alexis, Kylie and Casey Trousil, his siblings, Donald Vander Missen, Mary and Howard Daanen, Karen and Tom Bellisle, sister-in-law, Karen and David Thiel, and sister-in-law, Carole Vander Missen, as well as numerous nieces and nephews and special friends, Daryl and Sue Brys. Family and friends may call at St. Mary Catholic Community on Pope John XXIII Circle off Sportsman Drive, De Pere, from 3:00 pm to 6:15 pm on Monday February 21, 2011. Knights of Columbus Prayer Service at 6:00 pm. Mass of Resurrection will be celebrated at 6:30 pm Monday at the Church with Father John H. Harper, officiating. The family extends a sincere thank you to our families and friends that offered Masses and prayers for Dick.
