Richard "Dick" Woitula, 80, of Green Bay, died early Thursday morning, October 3, 2013 at Unity Hospice. The son of the late Joseph and Pauline (Wertel) Woitula was born December 28, 1932 in Green Bay. Dick fell in love with Jeanne Golonka and they were married on February 9, 1959. They moved to Tempe, AZ for awhile but both of them longed to be back in WI to be by family and friends. She preceded him in death on December 13, 2008. Mr. Woitula served his country in the U.S. Army.
Dick took pride in hard work and was a proud man. He started as a paperboy and moved on to being a cowboy, miner, bartender, and worked as a truck driver for Fore Way Express for thirty years. The guys at Fore Way were like his second family. You know a good person when, after years of not seeing someone, they recognize you and want to say "hey, how the heck are you". He was greatly loved by neighbors, family and friends alike. So when you think of him and can share a story or two about him, this is a huge compliment to us all.
Dick loved his family and doing good deeds for others. He was very proud ofhis home improvements and building things, from birdhouses to his beautiful cabin in the woods. Dick also loved flowers, a good joke and music. Oh the musicthose who know Dick loved his choice of music. He loved polka, classic country, and beautiful symphony music that he learned from his mother. He enjoyed sharing that love of music with his family and friends. Of all of our wonderful memories, some of the fondest were those at the 'garage parties'. He was well known for his excellent booyah.
Once Dick retired from Fore Way, he was a busy man. He always had time to help someone out or just catch a beer with a friend. Dick enjoyed doing things for others, and spending time with his children and grandchildren. Even to the end he fought a hard fight, but now we can say that we are so proud of our dad/grandpa/brother and friend. We still don't want to say good-bye, but we know that he left our world a better place.
Survivors include his daughters, Roxanne Olson, Brenda (Tim) Parent, Dana (Bob) Volm, one son, Robert (Cyndi) Woitula, as well as grandchildren Jordan, Dexter, Anthony "A.J." Olson, Timothy "TJ", Ashley, Alana Parent, Tyler (Abby) and Grayson Woitula, and one brother, Carl, and one sister and brother-in-law, Evelyn and Earl Schoen, nieces and nephews. Dick was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, two brothers, Raymond (Carol) and Joseph (Peggy) Woitula, one sister Irene (Richard) Zolper, nieces Kim and Monica Woitula, and nephews, Scott and Rick Zolper. Dick will also be missed by his dog, Rymes, aka, "Puppy".
After Jeanne passed, it was hard for him, but he is with her now. We take great consolation in the fact they are both looking down on us from Heaven with a smile.
