Riley Samuel Lestrud age 16 of Howard Wi, went home to our Heavenly Father on October 9th after a long and courageous battle with Acute Myeloid Leukemia (AML). He was born April 2, 2004 along with his Twin Brother Parker to Shane and JoDee (Ehmer) Lestrud. Riley was home in his parents and brothers arms, surrounded by loved ones and his pets. Riley fought cancer fiercely right to the end with dignity and grace.
Riley enjoyed gaming and hanging out with friends, going Up North to the family cottage to snowmobile, four wheel, downhill ski, tube on the boat, shoot guns, making late night runs to McDonald's with "the Boogs", and most of all was a huge animal lover wanting to be a Veterinarian one day. Riley was a sweet, shy, quiet old soul in a young mans body with a wicked sense of humor. He loved and protected his family and friends and was happiest in the comfort of his home. Riley left an imprint on the hearts of everyone that met him or followed his journey with childhood cancer. He will be forever carried with us in our hearts and memories until we are greeted home in Heaven with him again.
Special thanks to all of the Doctors and nurses at St Vincent Hospital of Green Bay, Childrens Hospital of Milwaukee, and Childrens Hospital of St. Louis. Thank you for fighting along with us to try to cure our Son and so many other children fighting this terrible disease. Our mission now is to bring awareness and get more funding so other families will not have to endure this heartache one day and we can find a cure.
Due to Covid the family will hold a Celebration of Life in the spring of 2021.
In lieu of flowers the family is asking for pet supplies that will be donated to a local shelter, or a donation to be made in Riley's name. Please send or drop off supplies to 1294 Graceland Terrace Green Bay Wi 54313
