Rita E. Nelson, 93, De Pere passed away peacefully on Thursday February 16, 2017. Rita was born October 17, 1923 in Janesville to the late Harry and Mabel Randall. On September 6, 1943 she married David L. Nelson. She graduated from Holy Angel Academy in Milwaukee and later in life returned to study at UWGB and graduated from there with a degree in Teaching in December 1974. Rita taught in the East De Pere School District for 18 years, first as a remedial reading teacher and then as the district's first computer teacher. She retired in 1992. After retiring she was active in the St. Vincent De Paul organization and the St. Vincent Hospital Auxiliary and the Green Bay Yachting Club Auxiliary. When not volunteering, Bridge was her favorite pastime. She is survived by her husband David, her sons; Thomas (Sandra), Mentor, OH. Richard (Paula), Grand Rapids, MI., and their three children; Dustin (Terra), Seattle, WA. Marissa, Phoenix, AZ., and Sylvia, Grand Rapids, MI. Her granddaughter Dawn also survives. Rita was preceded in death by her son John, her parents, and her brother Jack Randall. Friends may call at St. Norbert College Parish at Old St. Joseph Church after 9:30AM Tuesday February 21, 2017.
