Roland B. Luebke, De Pere passed away on Friday May 27, 2011. Roland was born on Easter Sunday April 30, 1930 to Ernest and Sophia (Wiedenhaft) Luebke in West De Pere. Roland became a child of God by the rite of Holy Baptism on May 4, 1930 at the home of his parents. His faith in his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ was confirmed by the solemn rite of Confirmation on April 2, 1944. Roland(TM)s Confirmation verse was Matt 19; 32: "Whosoever therefore shall confess me before man, him I will also confess before my father which is in Heaven". Roland graduated from Nicolet High School in West De Pere. He was employed by VanDyk Shoes and Clothing for 17 years and then became manager of the men(TM)s department in the De Pere White Store. He retired in August of 1983. For 31 years he was the choir director at St. John Lutheran Church in De Pere and was organizer and founder of the jr. choir. This time as choir director was given freely and was not for the glory of man but for the glory of God and his church. Roland also served on the church council as vice president and treasurer. On March 27, 1986 Roland was recommended by his Pastor, Chester Nerenhausen to be a lay preacher for the American Lutheran Church. It was a great blessing for Roland to share the good news of the Gospel in many congregations of the Lutheran church he was able to assist. He was also called upon to conduct worship services at area nursing homes, which he found very rewarding. Roland is survived by a brother, Delbert (Ellie) in Chippewa Falls and sister in law Mae of De Pere and a brother in law, Douglas Fonstad of Racine and a special nephew Eddie Luebke of De Pere and dear friends Joyce Kolb, and Brad and Lois Fischer of Green Bay. He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Glen and Edwin and sisters Florence and Pearl and special friend Pastor Chester Nerenhausen.
