Obituary

Rolf Alvin Kroeber, beloved child of God, 77, of De Pere, passed away peacefully Monday, May 25, 2015, in the company of loving family. Rolf was born July 19, 1937 in Hartford, WI, son of the late Alvin and Laila Kroeber. Rolf married the former Bette Mae Reinicke of Wisconsin Rapids, on August 4, 1962. Following graduation from Hartford Union High School, Rolf served 2 years in the U.S. Army, stationed in Germany. Upon his return from Germany, Rolf graduated from UW-LaCrosse, with a degree in Physical Education. It is also where he met the love of his life, Bette. Rolf later earned a Master's Degree in Counseling, from Winona State University. Rolf began his career in education as a physical education teacher for 3 years at Wonewoc High School. He also coached baseball, basketball, and golf at Wonewoc. This was followed by working in the Kenosha School District for 2 years as a physical education teacher. In 1967, Rolf began a dedicated career in the Ashwaubenon School District. Beginning at Cormier School as an elementary physical education teacher, he eventually moved to Guidance Counselor at Parkview Middle School and then at Ashwaubenon High School. Rolf was the Chair of the Guidance Department at Ashwaubenon High School. During his early career in Ashwaubenon, Rolf coached basketball and football. He was also voted Ashwaubenon High School Teacher of the Year, by the Ashwaubenon High School faculty. Rolf retired from the Ashwaubenon School District, and his distinguished career in education, in 1995. Rolf was a member of Oakbrook Church and lived a life that was guided by an incredible trust and faith in God, an unending love for his wife, Bette, and his family. Rolf's life was devoted to serving others, as evidenced by the thousands of students he served during his career in education. It continued in the community, as Rolf spent 40 years in prison ministry. Rolf gave of his time to encourage and bring hope and God's word to so many. No matter the situation, Rolf always had time to listen to others, to share his wonderful wisdom and encouragement, all done with a smile on his face. Rolf treasured many activities, most of all any opportunity to use his exceptional skills on a golf course. Also included in his special times were family summer vacations at Crystal Lake and family skiing trips. He cherished his garden and yard as well as time spent with his family and friends. Rolf took great pride in a hat collection that was extraordinary. He proudly displayed all of them in his basement. After Bette's retirement, Rolf and Bette enjoyed spending their winters in Arizona. Rolf is survived by his wife of 52 years, his children Kary (Wendy), Suamico, WI. Bryan, Green Bay, WI. He is further survived by his brother Jon, Madison, WI, granddaughters Jessie and Alex, as well as many nieces and nephews. Visitation for Rolf will be Saturday May 30th at RYAN FUNERAL HOME, 305 N.
