Ronald Ray Schmitz, 68, De Pere, passed away in the evening hours of Monday, March 27, 2023. The son of Paul and Mary (Forbeck) Schmitz was born on December 7, 1954.

Ron attended De Pere High School and spent his career in construction, founding Schmitz Construction in the early 1990s. He was a member of the Brown County Home Builders Association and the National Rifle Association. He enjoyed woodworking, hunting, gardening and being outdoors.

He is survived by his siblings and siblings-in-law, Jim (Karen) Schmitz, Larry (Judy) Schmitz, Nancy (Denis) Martin and John "Jack" Becker; as well as nieces, nephews and other extended family.

Ron was preceded in death by his parents, Paul and Mary; sister Kathy Becker; and other extended family members.

Family and friends may visit at Ryan Funeral Home, 305 N. Tenth Street, De Pere, beginning at 3:00 p.m. on Friday, March 31, 2023. Visitation will conclude with a sharing of stories at 6:00 p.m.
