Rose M. Johnson, 86 passed away peacefully at home on May 8, 2024, with family by her side. She was born in Keshena, WI on December 5, 1937, to Irvin & Jane (Martin) Adams. On August 4, 1956, Rose was united in marriage to Bernard R Johnson at the Oneida Methodist Church, and they spent 61 wonderful years together prior to Bernard's death.
Rose, a proud member of Oneida Nation, spent many years working in House Keeping (later known as Custodian) at the old Oneida Health Center. She was an active member of the Oneida Methodist Church and a longtime devoted member of the Oneida Hymn Singers, singing at numerous Oneida members' funeral services and community events. Rose was part of the Hymn Singing group when they were invited to sing at the Smithsonian.
Most of all she was a loving, kind, caring mom, grandma, sister, auntie and friend to many.
On nice days you could find mom riding around the neighborhood on her bike or outside gardening. She enjoyed visiting with her children, family and friends. She also enjoyed volunteering her time at church helping out in any way she could.
Rose is survived by her children, Bernie (Vicki) Johnson, Dennis (Debbie) Johnson, Bonnie (Steve) Kornaus, Lois Domencich, Debra Johnson. Grandchildren, Beth (Mark) Kallio, Bernard J Johnson, Justin (Ashley) Johnson, Dennis Jr, Nikki (Jason Kurowski) Johnson, Eva Domencich, Darsalle Haynes, Diahja Haynes. Great Grandchildren, Avryan, Ari, Aubrey, Kieuria(Dan), Sophia, Austin, Sadie, Jason Jr., Dennis III, Lydia, Avery. Great Great Grandchild, Freyja
Sisters, Elizabeth Baynes, Helen Dohm, Brother Jerry Adams. Sister-in-law, Theresa Johnson, Brother-in-law, Bob Stevens. Special cousin – Alfrieda Grignon and Special friend and neighbor Pat Cornelius.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Bernard R. Johnson. Son-in-law, Lee Domencich. Grandson, Andrew Johnson. Parents, Irvin and Jane Adams. Mother and Father-in-law Bernard & Millie Johnson. Sisters – Patricia Adams, Loretta Smith, Marcy Benjamin, Carol Adams, Cheryl Dykstra. Brothers – Irvin, Merlin, Leon, Kenny, Roy and Harold Adams. Family and Friends may call at Ryan Funeral Home, 305 N 10th Street, De Pere on Monday, May 13 from 4:00pm until the prayer service at 7:00pm. The Oneida Hymn Singers will begin at 6:30pm. Visitation will continue on Tuesday at Oneida United Methodist Church from 9:00am until the service at 11:00am with Pastor Jane Sommers officiating. The Oneida Hymn Singers will begin at 10:30 am. Burial in the church cemetery.
The family would like to give special thank you to our sister Bonnie for taking care of mom, in her time of need. We couldn't have done it without you.
