Rose Marie Smith (Vander Bloomen), 80, passed away peacefully on March 20, 2025, after an extended illness. She was born on July 6, 1944, to Omer and Geneva (Van Vonderen) Vander Bloomen. Rose married the love of her life Robert L. Smith and enjoyed 44 years of marriage. Robert preceded her in death in 2008.

Rose graduated from West De Pere High School and worked several different jobs early in life before enjoying a 27-year career at Brown County as the office manager in the facilities department. In retirement, Rose relished her time with family and friends, spoiling the grandkids, and later on watching Hallmark movies. She really loved a happy ending to stories.

Rose is survived by her daughter Victoria Smith, son Robert (Nancy) Smith, sister Sr. Jeanne Vander Bloomen, O.S.F., grandchildren Shannon (Brett) Sorenson and Valerie Smith (Dan, special friend).

She was preceded in death by her husband Robert Smith, parents, Omer and Geneva Vander Bloomen, brother Omer Vander Bloomen, sister Caroline Smet, and many in-laws on both the Smith and Vander Bloomen sides of the family.

Friends and family may call at Ryan Funeral Home, 305 N. 10th Street, De Pere, WI 54115 beginning at 4:00 p.m. on Friday, March 28, 2025. A memorial service will begin at 6:00 p.m. with Deacon Mike Vander Bloomen presiding.

The family would like to include a Special Thank You to Vicki for being Rose's primary care-giver for these last years, which allowed her to remain at home during her illness. We also want to thank the nursing staff at St. Vincent Hospital for their kindness and compassion during Rose's recent stay.
