Obituary

Rosemary Menting, 96, passed away peacefully on January 17, 2018, at a hospice facility in Milton, Massachusetts. For several years, she had been a resident of an assisted care facility in Jamaica Plain, Massachusetts. Born Rosemary Andrews on February 14, 1921, in Chicago, Illinois, Rosemary spent her childhood and young adult life in Luxemburg, Wisconsin. She attended Luxemburg High School, where she was a cheerleader, a member of the debate team, and a clarinetist in the school's marching band. After graduating, she moved to Green Bay, where she worked in a physician's office, took bookkeeping classes at Northeast Wisconsin Technical College, and ultimately began her professional life as an accounts payable administrator for Olsen Transportation Company. It was at Olsen's that she met her future husband, Richard; they were married on October 18, 1947. Around the time her children were born, Rosemary left Olsen's to become a full-time homemaker. She later reentered the workforce, this time in retail at the J.C Penney Company in downtown Green Bay. After retiring from Penney's, Rosemary worked for years as a volunteer at Red Cross blood donation drives in Allouez, Wisconsin. She also volunteered as a teacher's assistant at Green Bay's Aldo Leopold Community School, where she tutored children in reading and math. She deeply enjoyed her time at Aldo Leopold and, as the years passed, always appreciated running into former students. Rosemary and Richard were long-time residents of Allouez. Before moving to Massachusetts in 2010, they had lived for several years in De Pere. Rosemary will be remembered always by friends and family for her warm, generous, and caring spirit, her humor and positive approach to life, and her ability to restore peoples' faith with her smile. Rosemary was predeceased in 2012 by Richard. She is survived by her daughter, Ann, and her son, Paul; a brother-in-law, Kenneth; and several nieces and nephews. A funeral mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. on May 18, 2018, at Resurrection Catholic Church in Allouez. Rosemary will be laid to rest next to Richard in the Queen of Peace cemetery in Antigo, Wisconsin.
