Obituary

Rosemary (Mrs. Richard) Vander Missen, 71, De Pere, passed away peacefully at her home surrounded by her family on Tuesday evening, Feb. 4, 2014, following a courageous battle with cancer. She was born in Kaukauna, to the late Henry and Harriet (VerVoort) Vanevenhoven on April 6, 1942. On July 20, 1963, Rosie was united in marriage to Richard (Dick) Vander Missen at Holy Cross Catholic Church, Kaukauna, he prececed her in death on February 16, 2011. She was a devoted wife and mother to her four children and a loving Grandma to her twelve grandchildren. She was a long time member of St. Mary Catholic Parish, De Pere and an Election Poll Worker in De Pere for many years. Rosie graduated from Wisconsin College of Cosmetology, 1961. Rosie's faith was very important to her and she shared that faith with her family. She enjoyed spending time with her family, especially holiday gatherings, Packer Games and Up North at the cottage. Rosie loved to golf, bowl and enjoyed swimming with her friends at the YMCA. Rosie and Dick enjoyed traveling together and time spent Up North, making memories with the family. Survivors include her children, Shelly and Bryan Becker, Michael and Michelle Vander Missen, James & Molly Vander Missen, and Lisa and Eric Trousil; 12 Grandchildren, Jessica (Blaine) Bodart, Jason Becker; Joshua, Zachary, Tianna, Marissa, and Samuel Vander Missen; Drew and Morgan Vander Missen; and Alexis, Kylie and Casey Trousil. Her sister and brother-in-law, Karen and David Thiel, brother-in-law, Donald Vander Missen, sisters-in-law, Mary and Howard Daanen, Karen and Tom Bellisle, and Carole Vander Missen; as well as many nieces and nephews, and many special friends that she met along the way. Rosie was preceded in death by her parents, her husband and father and mother-in-law, Clarence and Mary (Vercauteren)VanderMissen. Family and Friends may call at St. Mary Catholic Community on Sportsman Road, De Pere from 2:00 to 4:30 on Friday February 7, 2014. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 4:30 pm Friday at the church. Please visit www.ryanfh.com to send on-line to the Vander Missen family. In lieu of other expressions of sympathy a memorial fund has been established to St. Mary's Parish. The family extends a sincere thank you to our families and friends who have offered Masses and prayers for Rosie. We are honored to have so many wonderful and thoughtful people in our lives. Thank you to Green Bay Oncology, especially Dr. Matthew Ryan and Nicole Spaeth, PA; Heartland Hospice, especially Lise and the caring staff of Home Instead that made her last days at home very comfortable.
