Russel A McMonagle, 91 De Pere passed away peacefully Wednesday morning December 28,2022. He was born in the town of Scott on December 19, 1931 to the late Wallace and Ethel (Hockers) McMonagle.
Russ graduated from De Pere High School before serving his country in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict. On August 29, 1952, he married the love of his life Rita Dumas at St Joseph Church in Green Bay. He began his salesman career at Cuene Buick before joining McMonagle Lumber where he was a salesman for over 30 years.
He was a member of the De Pere Optimist and American Legion. He bowled at Century Lanes for many years. Russ was truly at home in the woods cutting trees for firewood. He was an avid golfer at McCauslin Brook in Lakewood and loved visiting the 19th hole at the Sand Trap. He was passionate about his garden and loved snowmobiling with family and friends.
Survivors include his wife of 69 years, Rita and their children, Deb (Paul) Manders, Green Valley and their 4 children, Chris (Andrea), Manders, Holly (Mike) Mathies, Mark, Eric (Abby) Manders; Sue (Greg) Crabb, Luxemburg and their 2 children, Michelle (Matt) Henrikson, Melissa (Zach) Scott; Jim's 2 children Amanda (Aaron) VanderLogt, and Heather (KeAndre) Hayward; Jodie (PJ) Martens, Sobieski and her 2 children, Nick (Silvie) Halstead, and Jessica (Dan) Dye; Greg (Donna) McMonagle, Green Bay and their 2 children, Taylor and Noah; Shawn (Sean) Hanaway, Greenleaf and their 2 children Logan and Olivia, 17 great grandchildren, one sister Carolyn (Doug) Jansen, DePere one brother Ron (Debbie) Boss, Green Bay and many sisters and brothers in-law.
Russ was preceded in death by one son Jim, one brother Bob and several sisters and brothers in-law.
Friends and Family may visit at St. Mary Catholic Church, 4805 Sportsman Drive, Ledgeview, from at 9:00 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. on Tuesday, January 3, 2023. A Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 11 a.m. with Fr. Mike Ingold officiating. Full military honors will immediately take place after mass. Burial will follow at Mt. Olivet Cemetery.
The McMonagle family would like to thank the De Pere Fire and Rescue and the staff and nurses at CountryF Villa in Pulaski.
In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting donations to Alzheimer's and Diabetes Research.
