Russell Bernard Metoxen, 88, Oneida, passed away at home on Wednesday morning, July 5, 2023. The son of Lambert and Nancy (Powless) Metoxen was born on July 6, 1934. On February 15, 1956, he married Muriel "Jeanne" Sommers in Milwaukee.
Russell served in the United States Air Force and owned an autobody shop. He was a founding member of the Milwaukee Buckskins and served on the Oneida Business Committee.
He is survived by his children, Kerry (Colleen), Kelly (Mary Ann), Kirby and Kristen; grandchildren Jennica (Leland) Fulwilder, Lambert (Connie) Metoxen, Melissa (Cory) Metoxen, Jacob (Sage) Metoxen, Kelly Metoxen Jr., Frank Skenandore, Taylor Bird, Elijah (Alebra) Metoxen, Mercy (Levi) Metoxen, Schuyler (John) Metoxen, Desiree Metoxen and Cree Tubby. Russell is further survived by his brother, Ronald (Yvonne) Metoxen and sister-in-law Alberta Metoxen. He is even further survived by 41 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandchild.
Russell was preceded in death by his wife, Muriel "Jeanne"; grandsons Bryan Metoxen and Albert Metoxen, granddaughter Chancey; brothers Gerald and Roy (Lida); sisters Audrey (Ted) McCarrol, Lois Metoxen and Karen (Fox) Christjohn.
Family and friends may visit at Ryan Funeral Home, 305 N. Tenth Street, De Pere, from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Friday, July 7, 2023. The Oneida Hymn Singers will begin at 6:30 p.m.
Visitation will continue at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday morning at Church of the Holy Apostles, 2937 Freedom Road, Oneida. The Oneida Hymn singers will begin at 10:30 a.m. with service beginning at 11:00 a.m. Burial with full Military Honors will follow the service in the Holy Apostles Cemetery.
The family requests food donations be brought to Parish Hall by 11:00 a.m. on Saturday.
