Obituary

Ruth Ann C. Roffers, 79, of Green Bay, WI, was called home to the Lord on June 13, 2019, after a long and courageous battle with thyroid cancer. Ruth Ann was the first-born of eight children on February 7, 1940, to Stella Brockman and Harold Aldrich in De Pere, WI. She attended St. Joseph's Catholic School and Nicolet High School. On May 14, 1960, Ruth Ann married the late James "Jim" Roffers in De Pere, WI, at the National Shrine of St. Joseph's Church. Together, Ruth Ann and Jim drove team for Schneider Transport, shared a love for the Stock Car races, and raised three daughters. Ruth Ann was proud of her first job as a clerk at Prange's; and saved all her pay stubs. Ruth Ann left her position at Prange's to care for her three daughters. Once the girls were older, Ruth Ann returned to work driving school bus, and later joined Jim on the road driving semi-truck. Ruth Ann was a wonderful woman who modeled her life after St. Joseph, her hero. She served the Lord with her whole heart. Her charisma and love for Christ had no bounds. Ruth Ann was an active member of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church. She took pride in her involvement with the church and the ever-lasting friendships she made. Serving as a lector, eucharistic minister, and faith formation teacher were a few of Ruth Ann's voluntary duties with the parish. In addition to her work with the church, Ruth Ann had a passion for writing, authoring hundreds of short-stories and poems, just like her mother before her. Also, Ruth Ann had a love for crafting; including sewing, hand-embroidery, and knitting, but most of all, doll repair. Ruth Ann believed every little girl deserved a doll. She repaired many dolls for donation and made custom dolls for her grandchildren. Ruth Ann loved photography, making sure to capture each moment in time. Ruth Ann was the family historian, preserving and passing along stories that made those who had passed continue to 'live on' in the memories of everyone around her. She could often be found researching, corresponding with genealogist relatives, and exploring the cemeteries where family members laid, usually leaving a bouquet of their favorite flowers and making sure they were not forgotten. Ruth Ann is survived by three daughters and sons-in-law; Debra (Todd) Schneider, Michelle (Tom) Rodgers, and Diane (Paul) Schmitt. Grandchildren: Nicholas Schneider, Kristin (Joshua) Baack, Stephanie Rodgers, Jamie Rodgers, Benjamin (Lacey) Rodgers, Loretta (Bryan) Rich, Leonard Rodgers, Wendy Rodgers, Cory Schmitt, and Rebecca Schmitt. Great-Grandchildren: Skyler and Daphne Baack, Chloe and Wesley Rich, Lukas, Zackary, Kole, and Kennedy Rodgers, and Kyla and Jonathan McMichael. Ruth Ann is also survived by sisters: Beverly Hampton-Kinnard, Elaine Jourdan, Evelyn Aldrich, June Janz, Eileen (Edwin) Janz, and sister-in-law Francine Aldrich. Jim's siblings also survive: Willard (Jean) Roffers, Betty (Lee) Schmit, David (Claire) Roffers, Robert Roffers, Harley (Nancy) Roffers, Gary (Carolyn) Roffers, Linda (Gary) Halase, and Joseph Roffers, as well as many friends. Ruth Ann was preceded in death by her husband, Jim, her parents, brothers: Harold Aldrich, Jr. and Donald Aldrich, nephew Charles Hampton, and brothers-in-law: Levi Hampton and Hubert Jourdan. Family and friends may call at RYAN FUNERAL HOME; 305 N. Tenth Street, De Pere, after 4:00pm on Sunday, June 16, 2019. A parish prayer service will be held at 7:00pm to bring the evening to a close.
