Obituary

Ruth P. (Counihan) Rolf, 96, De Pere, passed away peacefully on Sunday, January 19, 2014 surrounded by her family. She was born November 11, 1917 in Green Bay, a daughter of the late Raymond and Anna (Baeten) Counihan. On June 24, 1937 Ruth married Bernard Rolf at St. Boniface Catholic Church, De Pere. He preceded her in death on September 27, 1962. Ruth was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Community and St. Mary's Altar Rosary Society. She worked at the De Pere School District in the School Lunch Program until her retirement and she worked at the Brown County Fair Exhibits. Ruth enjoyed playing cards, travelling, crocheting, doing word searches, gardening and reading. She also enjoyed hemming quilts for St. Mary's quilters. She is survived by her children: daughter Sandra (Joseph) Kane and their children: David (Tammy) Kane, Terrie (Greg) Gaarder, and Diane (Justin) Ullman, daughter Nancy (James) Sederstrom and their children: Melinda (special friend Tony Olson) Morella and Jessica (Dan) Dolezal, son Eugene (Mary) Rolf and their children: Amy (Tom) Tanck and Cory (Lori) Rolf, son Thomas (special friend Patty Cooney) Rolf; daughter-in-law Mary Rolf and son Robert (Laurie) Rolf; son Donald's children Jody Rolf and Darcie (Boyd) Zastrow; 22 great grandchildren, and 11 great great grandchildren. She is further survived by her sister Mae Luebke; sisters-in-law Phyllis Counihan and Darlene Counihan; brother-in-law Joseph Sailor; and many nieces and nephews. Ruth was preceded in death by her husband Bernard; her parents; father and mother-in-law Barney (Ann) Rolf; daughter Ruth Ann; sons Robert and Donald; brothers Earl, Merlin, Jimmy, and Jack Counihan; sisters Alice (Gerald) Appleton, Arlene Sailor, brother-in-law Ed Luebke; Bernard's siblings: Larry (Vi) Rolf, Clarence (Lorraine) Rolf, Howard (Gen) Rolf, Marvin (Marge) Rolf, Lester, Francis, and Marie Rolf, and Genevieve (Joseph) Coenen; special friends Ed Schmechel and Joe Janssen; and nieces and nephews. Family and friends may visit from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, January 22, 2014 at RYAN FUNERAL HOME & CREMATORY, 305 N. Tenth St, De Pere. Prayer service will end the night at 7:00 p.m. Visitation will continue on Thursday from 9:30 to 11:00 a.m. at St. Mary Catholic Community, 4805 Sportsman Dr, Ledgeview, WI. Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11:00 a.m. with Fr. Richard Getchel officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Olivet Cemetery. In lieu of flowers a memorial will be established.
