Obituary

Mrs. Don (Ruth) Wilmet, 87, of De Pere died Friday afternoon, June 18, 2010 at a local hospital. The daughter of the late Amos George Le Caire and Leone (Tetzlaff) Le Caire was born March 30, 1923 in Green Bay. On June 28, 1944, she married Don Wilmet at First Congregational Church, De Pere, and he preceded Ruth in death on November 8, 2007. Ruth graduated from Nicolet High School in West De Pere and was an active member of the community. Music and dancing were a big part of her life. She began her keyboard playing at church at the age of twelve. She was a proud member of the church choir for years, played the organ and piano at church for over forty-five years, and directed the senior and junior choir. A talented musician, she played for countless weddings, funerals, Christmas Festivals and other special events. Ruth was a member of Enna Memorial Chorus. In her active years, she faithfully attended the many activities of her children and grandchildren. Ruth is survived by her daughter Marcia Wilmet, Louisville, KY; four sons: Gary and Jane Wilmet, Hop Bottom, PA, Steve and Sharon Wilmet, De Pere, WI, Tim and Jody Wilmet, De Pere, WI, and Paul Wilmet, Nashville, TN; 14 grandchildren: Alissa, Rachel, Toby, Samantha, Joe, Stephanie, Meredith, Liam, Christopher, Lauren, Derek, Darnell, Dante, and Diedra as well as nine great grandchildren: Kacie, Kendall, Camryn, Cassidy, Marcus, Lexie, Evelyn, Aidan, and Logan; brother-in-law, Merlin (Carol) Wilmet, as well as her nieces and nephews. Ruth was preceded in death by her husband Don; parents; brother Robert A. Le Caire; and three sisters: Eunice Overly, May Dillon, and Gladys Jones. Friends may call at RYAN FUNERAL HOME, 305 N. Tenth St, De Pere, from 4:00 to 8:00 PM on Tuesday, June 22, 2010. Visitation will continue from 10:00 am to 11:00 am Wednesday, June 23, 2010 at First Congregational Church, United Church of Christ, corner of Tenth and Cedar St, De Pere. Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 AM Wednesday at the church with Rev. James Pfefferkorn, officiating. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery.
