Ruth J. Zajkowski, 85, of Renaissance Assisted Living Center in De Pere, formerly of Sheboygan, died Saturday January 10, 2015. She was born June 25, 1929 in Sheboygan to Anton and Mary (Norris) Baranoucky. On February 3, 1951 she married Chester Zajkowski and he preceded her in death on October 16, 2000.
Ruth was a graduate cum laude of St. Scholastica College in Duluth, MN. During her time there she was the first junior ever selected for the Who's Who in American Colleges and Universities. She was a life-long member of Immaculate Conception Church of Sheboygan and worked with the late Msgr. James J. Shlikas for many years. Ruth was executive secretary for the Business Manager for the Sheboygan Public School System for 18 years, retiring in 1985.
She is survived by her two daughters Nancy (William) Burns of Orchard Park, NY and Rita Dufour of Ashwaubenon, WI; her four grandchildren & two great grandchildren: Nancy Kathryn Burns of Worcester, MA, Roberta (Clay) Baros of Paris, France, Carol Burns of Washington D.C., and Brian (Candace) Dufour and their children Madelyn and Alisha of Kernersville, NC. She is further survived by her brother Anthony (Shirley Brookins) Baranoucky of Sheboygan, Wi, sister-in-law Viola Zajkowski; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Ruth was preceded in death by her husband Chester, parents, father & mother-in-law Joseph and Anelia Zajkowski; and aunts, uncles and cousins.
Friends may call from 9:00 am to 11:00 am on Wednesday January 14, 2015 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church 2720 Henry St, Sheboygan, WI. Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11:00 am on Wednesday at the church with Father James Neilson, O. Praem., officiating. Burial will follow Mass at the Immaculate Conception Cemetery.
