Sandra "Sandy" Anne Scheer of Weston was called to the house of the lord on the morning of Sunday, November 15, after peacefully and unexpectedly passing away at the age of 64. Born January 10, 1956 in Milwaukee as the second of five children to Robert "Bob" and Barbara "Barb" Cyganek, Sandy spent her childhood years on Milwaukee's south side where she became known as a beautiful free spirited little girl with an infectious sense of humor. After later moving to the Madison area, Sandy graduated from Deforest High School in 1974 where she spent time working as a certified lifeguard and was also involved in dance. It was in Madison that she would meet and fall in love with Richard "Dick" Scheer. The two were happily married in Rhinelander, WI on June 19, 1975, and would shortly after moving to the Wausau area where they would raise two beautiful daughters, Danielle (Ammend), and Vanessa (Jorgenson). Sandy was employed by the state of Wisconsin and worked in the unemployment department for many years until she was forced into an early retirement after being diagnosed with an extremely rare and aggressive form of neurofibromatosis. For three decades Sandy courageously and fearlessly battled the incurable disease that would significantly inhibit her physical capabilities and dexterity. She will be remembered by all who knew her for her remarkable strength, positive spirit, and her relentless fight and unwillingness to lose hope in the face of her unforgiving condition. Despite losing the ability to physically do routine daily tasks that most take for granted, having her mobility limited or at times taken away, and often being in excruciating physical pain as a result of the disorder, Sandy never would complain about the situation she was given. She went out of her way to not burden those around her and instead chose to focus on positive things and continuing to live an active and fulfilled life. A woman of extraordinary artistic talents, Sandy had a true passion for crafting, with a particularly strong interest in quilting. She was a talented member and very active in three different quilting organizations; M&M quilters, Lady Liberty, and the Pine Tree Quilters Guild, where she formed many deep friendships. An avid camper, Sandy cherished spending time with her loving husband and family outdoors. She also enjoyed traveling and visiting new places, her favorite spot being on a beach looking out at the beauty of an ocean. During her travels, Sandy was always sure to make a detour to a local quilting store, despite the potential objections of those traveling with her! She found great joy in shopping, whether it be alone or with her mother and sisters. Most important to her was the time spent with family. She did all that she could to see her grandchildren as often as possible, most recently finding a niche helping them with virtual schooling. A lifelong devout Catholic, Sandy was also an active member of St. Agnes Catholic Church in Weston. She will be dearly missed by friends and family and will be forever remembered for her kind heart, radiant smile, quick wit, sense of humor, artistic talents, devotion to her family, and her refusal to give up hope or lose fight when faced with adversity. She is survived by her husband of 45 years, Dick, whose love and tireless willingness to selflessly care for her over the last 30 years allowed Sandy the opportunity to experience as high a quality of life as possible. She is also survived by her parents Bob and Barb Cyganek of Rhinelander, daughters Danielle (Nick) Ammend of Minnesota and Vanessa (Keith) Jorgenson of Green Bay, grandchildren Marley, Dalton, Owen, Jovie, Wyatt, Brooke, Maddie, and Hunter, four siblings, Chris (Frank) Ashbaugh, Leechburgh, Mary (Gary) Bushong, Rhinelander, Joan Cyganek, and Tom (Bonnie) Cyganek, Madison.
