Obituary

Sharon Ann (Kussow) Denissen, 73, Madison, passed away peacefully on July 11, 2016 following a stroke. The daughter of W. Sherman and Verna (DeRuyter) Kussow was born May 16, 1943 in Green Bay. Sharon attended Briggs School, a one room school house, before graduating from Wrightstown High School in 1961, and continued her education at UW-Oshkosh. She married Roman J. "Butch" Denissen at St. Jude Church in Green Bay on August 26, 1967. They spent over 45 wonderful years together before his passing in 2013. Sharon and Butch resided in Stevens Point for 25 years, where they raised their family, and then moved to Madison in 1995. She very much enjoyed her job at Camp Randall with the UW Athletics Department. She retired in 2009. Sharon had a genuine interest in how other people were doing. Her thoughtful cards and clipped newspaper articles will be missed by many. She was an enthusiastic listener, and loved to be surrounded by the conversation of family and friends, new and old. She is survived by her four daughters, Kelly (Dan) Schowalter, New Jersey; Stacy (Eric) Schloesser and their children, Graham, Anna, Sarah, Isaac and Nyaah, Mt. Horeb; Amy (Jaysin) Raykowski and their children Sam, Jayne, Lucy and Mae, Mount Horeb; and Kate (Craig) Borenz, and their son, Robert Roman, Madison. She is further survived by her siblings, Bill (Sharon) Kussow, Kay (Tom) Neuman, Joe (Lynn) Kussow and Amy (Joe) Leonhard, as well as many other friends and family. Sharon was preceded in death by her parents, Sherman and Verna, and husband Butch. Friends and family may call at RYAN FUNERAL HOME, 305 N. Tenth Street, De Pere, beginning at 9:00 AM on Saturday, July 16, 2016. A service will take place at the funeral home at 11:00 AM, and burial will follow at South Lawrence Cemetery. Sharon's daughters would like to extend a special thank you to Sharon's brothers and sisters for all of their support during this difficult time, as well as the staff at Agrace Hospice Center.
