Visitation
Shelly Jean Stevens, Tekawʌná‧sleˀ, “Her words are doubled”, age 59 of Oneida, passed away on March 22, 2026. She was born on August 24, 1966, to Valerie Groleau and Elden Wheelock.
Shelly was a loving mother, sister, and daughter. She loved cooking and was known for her genuine kindness and had a very forgiving heart. She was a strong woman who survived brain cancer in 2011. She took care of many loved ones throughout her life. Shelly was also famous for her hats and her love of purple.
Shelly is survived by her husband Kelly Stevens Sr., and her children, Shakira, Anastasia (Kasey), Coleman (Demetria), Natasha (Jerrad), Kelly Jr., and Vernon. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Aubrey, Sebastian, and Cante. She is further survived by her mother Valerie (step-father Marshall) Groleau, her father Elden Wheelock, and her mother-in-law Marjorie Stevens.
She was preceded in death by numerous relatives.
Family and friends may call for visitation on Wednesday, March 25, from 4:00pm to 6:00pm at Ryan Funeral Home, 305 N Tenth Street, De Pere. The Oneida Hymn Singers song service will begin at 5:30pm, with a service to follow. Visitation will continue at the Oneida Nation Longhouse, W370 Reformatory Rd, Seymour, WI, from 12:00am – 10:00 am on Thursday, March 26.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 am on Thursday, March 26 at the Oneida Nation Longhouse. Burials will follow at Oneida Sacred Burial Grounds.
