Simon W. De Coteau Jr., resident of Oneida, passed away on Friday, July 2, 2021. He was born on August 29, 1946, the son of the late Simon Sr. and Gloria (Grey) De Coteau.
Simon was a strong voice and a good ear in the Oneida community. He fought for fishing rights in Pamperin Park. He owned his own business Simon's Burritos and he had worked as a Pit Boss at the Oneida Casino for a few years. Simon was apart of the Wolf Clan, he was an active member of the Longhouse and, made a blue teepee with his bare hands. Simon was an Army Veteran and enjoyed posting flags at the cemetery every year and playing Friday night cards with his veteran buddies. He enjoyed vacations with his family to Colorado, hunting, motorcycle rides, and spending time with his elderly friends. Simon liked to play Dart Ball and created a family team with his grandkids.
He is survived by his special friend, Linda Webster; children, Bobby (Wendy), Caroline (Jose), Patrick (Rita), Gail (Amber), Paula (Deb), Simone, Dave (Sara), Melissa, Chantell, Daniel, Tony, Michael, Vestina, and Debra; 10 grandchildren and special grandchildren, Lauren, Forrest, and Jesus; 10 great-grandchildren; brother, Gerald De Coteau; sister, Audrey (Louis) Marshall, and his special friends, Richard Baird and Yolanda.
Simon was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Debra De Coteau and Muriel Ashmore; and his ex-wife, Shirley.
Friends may call from 9:00am to 11:00am on Thursday, July 8, 2021, at Ryan Funeral Home, 305 N. Tenth Street, De Pere. A service will be held at 11:00am with Bob Brown presiding. Military Honors will be held at Oneida Sacred Burial Grounds after services.
