On Saturday morning, September 22, 2012, God turned to Dottie and said "Your family is ready, go get Stan and bring him Home". Stanley Warren Seymour was born to the late William and Helen (Dahl) Seymour August 17, 1924 in Marshfield, WI. He was a graduate of Green Bay East High School, class of 1942. On December 26, 1946 he married the former Dolly "Dottie" Bidwell at St. Joseph Church in De Pere. She preceded him in death on November 9, 2000.
Stan proudly served his country in the US Army, Americal Division, in the Pacific Theatre of World War II where he earned the Bronze Star Medal. He was a member of VFW Post 2037, and shared his wartime experience with local schools. In his younger years, he played 2nd base on area softball teams. Stan was a hard working individual who began his career path at Milwaukee Road Railroad, progressing from lineman to inspector during his tenure, and then went to the former Red Dot, now Frito Lay, where he worked in sales and management, achieving the position of district manager.
Stan was an avid fisherman, teaching his skills to his daughters and grandchildren. He was especially fond of trout fishing. He also loved hunting, gardening, golfing and the appeal of being within nature's beauty. Indoors, Stan collected stamps, and was a dedicated bowler, once rolling a perfect game at Century Lanes in De Pere. His memberships included bridge club, dance club, East High Class of '42 Reunion Committee, and Senior Optimists, where he held the position of Secretary from 1988-2006. While he was with the Optimists, he helped raised money for various organizations, specifically Special Olympics and Howe Readers. Stan was a devoted Packer and Cub fan, holding season tickets to the Packers from the era of City Stadium onward. He was a devout Catholic, ushering at Resurrection Catholic Church for many years. Most of all he loved his family, and was proud of being a father, grandfather, and gran-grandpa. He adored his wife of 54 years and has missed her dearly for the last 12 years.
Stan is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Cathie and Wes Vander Velden, Appleton; Gail and Chris Roest, Green Bay; five grandchildren, Heather and Heidi Vander Velden, Holly (Tommy) Huttner, Marissa and Danielle Roest; one great-grandson, Tyler Vander Velden; one great-granddaughter, Adelaide Huttner; his brother, Clyde (Dawn) Seymour; a sister-in-law, Mary Seymour; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
