IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Stephen Lee
Allcox
June 7, 1941 – April 17, 2025
In Steve's own words, Steve Kicked the bucket on April 17, 2025. He was born on June 7, 1941, in De Pere. He was the son of John Carrol & Philomine, Phil, (Verheyen)Allcox. In 1962 he married the love of his life, Helen Robertson.
After graduating from De Pere High School, he worked for Diana Manufacturing, Charmin Paper, Liebmann Packing and Reimer Meats before becoming a custodian for West De Pere School District for over 25 years.
Steve was a jack of all trades, and he usually mastered most of them. In 1964, along with his father-in-law, he built the family home where he and Helen still live. He loved hunting, fishing and dogs. He always owned a dog. In his younger years he loved to hunt rabbits and run beagles. He was an active member of Lakeshore Beagle Club for decades and he ran his beagles under the name of Cross Country. His best and favorite was Cross Country Kizzy who became a national champion in 1978. In his later years he switched from hunting rabbits to grouse. He also switched his dogs to German Shorthairs. Even after losing most of his sight to Macular degeneration, he was able to hunt birds with his German Shorthair Rock and then Pebbles. He didn't shoot a lot of birds, but his love was more in running the dogs than shooting the game.
In the early years he would take the family camping most weekends and vacations. He was an artist at packing the family station wagon and leaving enough room for 3 kids to relax on the way to numerous Wisconsin campgrounds. Somehow, we always had everything we needed for the trip. Nearing retirement, he bought 40 acres in Florence WI and built a cabin, but first he had to tear down a barn in West De Pere and reclaim the wood for the cabin. If you stop at the cabin, you were offered a beer and a seat by the fire pit.
Steve is survived by his wife of 62 years, Helen; sons, Rick (Cindy) & Jon (Hiroko) and daughter Kathie (Jeff) Just; grandchildren, Zac (Crystal) Just, Bethany Allcox, Peyton Just, Stephen Allcox and Adam Allcox; great-grandchild, Dominic Just; Sisters, Joan Baeten, Judy (Harold) Nackers and Barbara Allcox as well as Helen's siblings; Gordy Robertson, Rollie (Linda) Robertson, Sue (Tom) Hofmann, Roy (Sue) Robertson, and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers Norbert (Dorothy), James (Stella), William, Richard and Paul Allcox; sisters, Rita Allcox, Carol (Alvin) Geurts, Patricia (Richard) Zimmerman; brothers-in-law Ronald Olejniczak and Merlin Baeten. Helen's parents Charles and Agatha Robertson, and sister-in-law Ardie Robertson also preceded him in death.
