Susan Shelly (Smits) Foehse, embraced by God, surrounded by her family, passed away Friday, February 2nd.
The word "legacy" is defined as "a gift left for others"; her legacy was one of love, compassion, kindness, and a scandalous grace that was available for everyone she encountered. She left in us a playbook for life and how to treat others; it's clear and concise, be gracious, be loving, hold to your faith even when it makes no sense, follow your gut, and always do the right thing. She taught us how to love, to be selfless, how to listen, and how to smile always. She helped raise her 11 younger siblings and then raised her seven children. We are beyond privileged and honored to have been raised under her umbrella, to know a woman like her, and to be able to call her "Mom" is a privilege beyond words.
Preceded in death by her parents Randall and June Smits; her sisters Eileen Mary and Holly Ann; brother Peter Brian; and Son Peter Paremski; sister-in-law Lori Smits. Susan is survived by her husband George; her children Joe (Sue) Paremski, Melissa (Steve) Svoboda, Andy (Cathee) Paremski, Sarah (Eric) Moberg, Michael (Jeni) Foehse, Matthew (Maria) Foehse. Susan is also survived by her siblings: Randy (Lynn), Barb (Ken), Mike (Jan), Tim (Kathy), Beth (Joe), Joel, Sally (Brad), Mary Jo (Ken), Theresa (Mark), Pam (Scott); and her 15 Grandchildren, who were the loves of her life and who brought her pure joy.
