Obituary

Susan Theresa Pankratz (Derenne) passed on to God on October 9, 2024. She was born on October 8, 1950, in Algoma to the late Walter J. and Valerie (Andre) Derenne-Dubois. Sue, as she preferred to be called, attended Luxemburg-Casco High School and Northeast Wisconsin Technical College, graduating in 1969 with a licensed practical nurse degree. She graduated from UWGB in May 1992 after 8 years of full and part-time attendance; holding a part-time job and being a mother took up a large part of her 'free' time.

She married Gary Dalebroux in 1975. Upon divorce, Sue was joyfully "re-connected" to Michael Pankratz and the two best friends were married on November 26, 1994. Sue worked in the abstracting field for many years at several title companies and functioned as a legal assistant in offices in the area. She was most happy when she was "doing" for others – especially her much loved grandchildren, Clayton, Norah, Alex, Emily, and Grant. She was an Associate of St. Norbert Abbey and the ministry scheduler there for many years as well as lector at St. Norbert Abbey and Our Lady of Lourdes. She and Mike were also members of the FOCCUS team at Our Lady of Lourdes. One of the highlights of her life was a private audience in Rome in 2000 with Pope John Paul II on a trip to celebrate her 50th birthday with the late Father Richard Mauthe. Sue loved reading, walking, travelling, praying and "people watching".

She is survived by her best friend and husband, Michael Pankratz, children Troy & Andrea Dalebroux, Kim and Brad Shefchik, her much loved grandchildren, Clayton & Norah Shefchik, Alex, Emily and Grant Dalebroux, her brothers, Steve & Barbara Derenne, Jerry & Diann Derenne, & Jack Derenne. Sue is also survived by the Pankratz and Dalebroux families, nieces and nephews and many, many dear friends.

She was preceded in death by her first husband, Gary Dalebroux, her parents Walter Derenne & Valerie DuBois, stepfather Hillarion Dubois, Patricia Dalebroux, Vernetta and Dean Pankratz, nieces, nephews, and many, many friends.
